FOXTON
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Sept. 13. Air R. Chrystall, who for semo months past lias been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, has returned to his homo. Mrs R. Robinson returned to Foxton to-day after being absent in YY'eliington for the past two months. After a quarter of a century it lias been found by a surveyor that the New Zealand Shipping Co.’s shed in Harbour Street enercachcs two inches on one end of the borough property in Alain Street, and sixteen inches on the other. At last night's meeting correspondence was received from the company asking the council if it was prepared to hand over the small strip of land involved in order that the boundary might bo fixed without any trouble. The request was granted provided it did not involve tho council in any expense. Complimentary reference was made con corning tho work carried out within the borough by the men engaged on relief work locally at last night's Borough Council meeting. A general meeting of the Tennis Club was field on Monday evening, presided over by Mr L, C. Bryant. The resignations cf Miss E. Barber, Aliss G. Allan, and Afr C. Procter were accepted with regret. Several members were elected. At the conclusion of the meeting a social was field to bid farewell to Mr G. Procter, the secretary, who is leaving the district. Air L. C. Bryant asked Air Procter to accept a leather suitcase as a token of appreciation of his services. Tito second round for tho Archer Golf Trophy was played on the Herrington links at tho week-end and resulted as follows:—B. Gavin lost to E. T. YY’ilson, E. Petersen lost to L. C. Bryant, G. F. Smith defaulted to R. Pedersen, AI. Baird last to R. Robinson, L. Thompson lost to Rev. Father Brennan, T. Chipper defaulted to L. Alattar, G. YY'oods lost to YY'. AI. Thomas. The match with tho Palmerston North Club, which was to have been played on September 3, and was postponed owing to rough weather, will now be played at Palmerston North on October 1.
