WOODVJLLE, Aug. 27. On Friday evening a mooting of directors _of local dairy factories was hold to consider establishing a veterinary surgeon in tho district, and as a result the following; committee was set up to act. in the moantime: Messrs J. Hanaray (chairman), S. Mclntosh R. C. Leach, F. \V. Blatchford, M. Murray and T. A. B. Sinclair (secretary). Tho schemo briefly is that before the services of a veterinarian can bo secured it is necessary to guaranteo 1250 cows in tho district. Tho cost to tho fanner is Is per cow, to bo collected by tho dairy factory secretaries. Payment is to bo spread over tho year. It was moved by Mr Leach and seconded by Mr Blatchford that tho chairman and directors of each of tho local factories bo asked to explain to their suppliers tho advantages of membership.—Carried. It was also proposed that representatives from each of tho local factories should be appointed to act as a permanent committee. At tho close of the meeting 500 cows wero placed under tho schemo by those present. A successful danco in aid of tho Holy Trinity Church funds was hold in tlio Foresters’ Hall on Friday evening, when tlicro was a large attendance, including visitors from Palmerston North, Dannovirko and Pahiatua. Extra dances wero. played by Miss G. Johnston and Mr Hicks. A supper was served by tho lady members of tho Church Guild. In a challenge match for tho McLachlan Billiards and Snooker Shield tho Foresters’ team wero successful in lifting tlio trophy from the Oddfellows by a margin of 45 points on the aggregate, each team having four wins to its credit.
