ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

(To tho Editor.)

Sir, —Being a keen reader of tho notes written by “Centre Half,” 1 noticed a few remarks about St. Andrew’s playing strength, etc., and I wish to make it plain that any criticism that may follow is not intended for that writer, but for tho person or ]>ersons who supply the information from week to week. Ei the first instance, regarding St. Andrew’s playing membership, consisting of fourteen players, the impression one gets is not what he' hears, but what ho sees, if he is a regular visitor to North Street Park. On a recent Saturday there were five of the said team’s players sitting in the stand, so that the credit they have of furnishing a full team is not so remarkable, especially when one considers that the two remaining local teams furnish full teams with a playing strength of approximately twelve players. I also thought it was not a good example for a leading club to set in breaking a rule of the Chatham Cup series by playing Johns. The rule states that "a player taking part in the Chatham Cup must play at least two games for his club prior to playing in the cup match. As far as visits from Wellington teams are concerned to play St. Andrew’s, I would suggest to the” M.F.A., as being the controlling body, that if any extra .games are to eventuate tho other teams are entitled to some consideration,, so why not have another round, and encourage our local players who already have an enforced rest every fourth week, owing to the bve.—l am, etc., MOONEAKER.
