FOXTON, Feb. 18.’ A further game for tho .Nye Bowling Ferns wan played on Wednesday afternoon when a challenge rink skipped by Roore won the trophies by a substantial margin of points. In the absence of Mattar and Christie, tho vacancies in tho holders’ rink wero filled by Heppner and Huntley. The rinks and scores wore as under: —Tawhai, Yardley, Heppner, Huntley (skip) 16 v. Crotty, Robinson, Trueman, Roore (skip) 27. A rink from Levin, skiped by Bull, wore successful in their match against the local rink who were holders of the Kinneborg Feathers. :■ On Wednesday afternoon a team of eight players from Foxton Tennis Club journeyed to Shannon to play a friendly game, the result being a win for Shannon by 126 games (14 sets) against 69 games (2 sets). A meeting of the Dorcas Society was held on Tuesday afternoon/ Rev W. H. Walton presiding. It was rosolved to send a letter of appreciation to the Women’s Institute for their generous gifts toward the parcels sent out by. the society to the families of. uqmeployod at Christmas time. The resignations of Rev. W. H. . Walton were received with regret, as they are leaving the district. Mrs Barron was appointed as the representative of the Plunket Society. Mrs F.
