PAHIATUA

PAIIIATUA, Aug. 18. Miss Doyle, postimstresa at Alfredton, is on her annual holiday. Miss Iliskens, teacher at Saunders’ Road School for the past three years, is taking up a position in Hawke’s Bay. The Mangatainoka River this morning was in higher flood than it has been for many years. Under the town traffic bridge the swollen waters stretched from bank to bank and there was just a vast expanse of muddy water tumbling past the old wooden spans. Fortunately, the river was comparatively free of big logo otherwise a battering from these would have tested the structure. There was practically nothing visible of the' Pahiatua Domain on the north town sido of the bridge.
