LINTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, Aug. 19. On tho occasion of their daughter’s marriago, Mr and Mrs Jos. Batcholar entertained their friends at an evening in tho Linton Hall on Wednesday last. A very enjoyable time was spent in dancing to excellent music provided by a pianist from Palmerston North; extras were given by tho Brill Bros., Messrs S. Greatorex and W. Greer. Miss Irono Roberts and Miss Blako contributed vocal items. Mr T. Lynch, on behalf of those present, thanked Mr and Mrs Batchelar for tho very pleasant evening which everyono had enjoyed. A ping pong match was played on Monday evening between tho Linton and Pohangina teams, tho latter winning by 23 games to 13. Tho scores wero as follow, tho Linton players being mentioned first: — E.
