MARTON, Aug. 18. Miss Woolmer, Marton District Nurse, is. at present ill and is being relieved by Miss McNab, of Wanganui. While using an iron moat chopper at the Kennels a fow days ago, Mr A. Goodwin severely gashed his hand arid had to receive medical attention.

The annual meeting of tho Marton Athletic Club was held on Monday evening, Mr S. J. Gibbons presiding over a good attendance. Tho report stutod that the season had bc*#n a very successful ono, the running and cycling being of a very high standard. Tho club commenced the season with a credit balanco of £69 13s 4d, including a fixed deposit of £35 and finished with a credit balanco of £49 4s Id. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr F. Purnell; president, Mr F. J. Gibbons; vicepresidents, Messrs A. H. Griffin, H. Raynor, A. T. Gatrell, E. Pickford, J. G. Gorrie, E. C. Hadcock, G. Snoddon; secretary, Mr E. M. Broughton; assistant-sec-retary, Mr S. B. Abel; hon. treasurer, Mr A. Way; executive committee, Messrs A. Smart, A. J. Whalo, C. Preece, J. Clarke, F. Wood, C. Henderson, D. H Morris, W. Hamer, L. G. Morris, R. Bland, A. Gnacie, G. Griffin, R. Frogley, C. Thompson, D. Thompson and officers, ex-officio; delegates to the Wanganui centre, Messrs F. Purnell, S. B. Abel and F. C. Atkinson (Wanganui).
