MUNGANA ACTION.
BRISBANE, Aug. 5. In the course of the Mungana action, Mr A. D. McGill,' counsel for . tho Crown, read answers by the defendants to the Crown’s interrogatories. Peter Louis Goddard admitted that Frederick Reid had allotted 1250 shares in Mungana Mines, Limited, to him “in consideration of the friendship, advice and assistance which Goddard had given him in his mining undertakings.” McCormack admitted that his interest in the Mungana mines began in December, 1917. Under a verbal agreement with Reid, McCormack received £10,696 for his 3476 shares, which sum was paid to the company by tho Queensland Government.
Mr McGill, also tendered answers by McCormack showing that he paid various substantial sums to Theodore between April, 1922, and July, 1925, the largest of which was £I6OO. Theodore did not give receipts. Theodore, in turn, confirmed the receipt of these sums. The case was adjourned.
The defendants in the Mungana action are the Federal Treasurer, E. G. Theodore, the Queensland ex-Pre-mier, William McCormack, also Peter Louis Goddard and Frederick Reid.
