APITI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, Aug. 1. In honour of the approaching marriage of Miss Myrtlo Cave a gift evening was held in the Public Hall on Tuesday night. The guest of honour woro a pretty frock of beige, with black satin wrap. Mr McNao made the presentation of gifts on behalf of thoso present. Miss Cave has been a resident for many years, and held the office oi honorary secretary to the Apiti Tennis Club for some time, and was a member of the ladies’ hockey team. Mr Jack Elliott, has for some years acted as most efficient honorary secretary to the Apiti Athletic Sports Club. Musical honours were then accorded. Mr Elliott, with a few appropriate remarks, thanked those present for their gifts and the honour accorded Miss Cave and himself. Dancing, and card playing was kept up until an early hour. Mr \V. Duncan, is at present on holiday in Otaki. Miss Stanley is in Wellington on holiday. Mr 11. Viles has returned from Hastings. Mrs Cecil Mclntyro and children liavo gone to Taumarunui on holiday.
