THRIVING IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 2. A. report issued by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reveals some interesting information regarding motoring in England. America excepted, there are more motor vehicles in England (where they number nearly 1,500,000) than in any other country. The production of vehicles last year was 61 per cent, higher than in 1924, and employment in the motor trade was 8.9 per cent, higher than in that year.
Motor car-taxation is heavier in England than elsewhere in the world. The direct taxes paid in Great Britain exceeded £25,500,000 last year, and the fuel tax amounted to £15,900,000. ? It is estimated that the average life of a motor vehicle in England is years.
