ERRONEOUS REPORT.
NAME OF ACCUSED PERSON. CORRECTED MESSAGE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 4. A message issued from Wellington yesterday stated wrongly that Mr George Hancox had made out a cheque on a non-existent stone company and obtained £27 10s ill change from a Christchurch tailor’s shop after paying a deposit on a suit and overcoat.
The name of the accused person was Arthur Anderson, who was described as a motor driver, aged 32. Anderson was admitted to probation for two years and was ordered to repay the £27 10s and take out a prohibition order. The complainant in the case was Mr George Hancox, principal of the tailoring firm in Christchurch which cashed the cheque. The Press Association expresses regret that ail erroneous report was circulated.
