AVIATION ACTIVITIES.
MILSON AERODROME. Piloted b.v Major Findlay, officer in charge of the Soekburn aerodrome, Christchurch, a D.H. 50 five-passenger Government ’plane visited the Milson aerodrome yesterday < morning, taking off later for 'Wellington and Christchurch. This machine, which is fitted with a 240 h.p. Siddeley-Puma engine, is the largest that has visited Palmerston North and was used to convey a Ministerial party to the opening of the Wanganui aerodrome on Saturday. Major Findlay, who had not previously landed at Palmerston North, was welcomed by local club officials and expressed himself agreeably surprised at the excellence of the local aerodrome.
A Moth ’plane, piloted by Major Cowper, and belonging to the Western Federated Flying Club, accompanied the Government machine from Wanganui, and will be stationed permanently in this district for the training of pupil members of the Feilding and Manawatu Clubs. This ’plane will be in charge of Major Cowper, who at a meeting on Saturday was engaged as instructor for this district. As there are alrendy a number of pupils waiting to commence, training operations will be proceeded with immediately.
