NEW YEAR COMPETITIONS. A Canadian mixed foursome played on Saturday brought to a successful conclusion the series of New Year mixed competitions conducted by the Manawatu Golf Club. The weather was again delightful and there was a satisfactory number of entries. Tho competition was won by 0. H. 'Williams and Miss Halley., who returned the nett score of 76, one better than that of Mr and Mrs L. Seifert.

The following are the leading cards: —O. H. Williams and Miss Halley, 85 —9 —76 ; L. Seifert and Mrs Seifert, 87 —10 —77; R. J. Carter and Miss Scott, 87—9—78; F. Raven and Mrs Raven, 98—12—86; J. F. Field and Mrs Field, 95—8—87; W. Hall and Miss McCabe, 106 —16—90.

The Miramar Golf Club’s New l r ear open tournament was concluded on Saturday in a northerly half gale. The open championship was won by J. L. Petley, of Miramar Club, who defeated his clubmate, Rev. C. V. Roolse, in the final 5 and 4.
