FEILDING

YEAR’S RAINFALL. (Special to “Standard.”) Mr F. Mason, of Feilding, has compiled the following table of the rainfall in Feilding for the past year:

The average fall for the past 20 years is 36.75in5, so that it will be seen that the 1930 fall was 9.loins, below the average. The months of October and November were the two driest that Mr Mason has yet recorded in Feilding. December was also the driest period recorded since 1912, when the total was ,4in. In that year, however, the total fall was 40.82 ins. In 191& only 24.95 ins of rain fell, but the fall was more even, the lowest month being April, with 1.06 ins. and July the highest with 3.44 ins.

NOTES. The following pupils of the Feilding High School have been awarded higher leaving certificates: —Nonna Zotov, Dorothy Edmondson, Malcolm Buist, T. J. Thompson. The staff of Messrs Levin and Coy., Ltd., of Feilding. assembled on AVednesday to farewell Mr A. H. Maguire, accountant to the firm for many years past and who has now severed his connection with it to enter business on his own account. . Mr AV. E. Carthew is taking part in the Miramar Golf Club’s tournament now being played. The Feilding Methodist Church services to-morrow will be taken by members of the Student Christian Movement now in Feilding, the morning preacher being llev. B. Hames, M.A., and in the evening Mr Lex Millar, organising secretary of the louth Movement Against Alcohol, will preach. There was a large attendance of visiting and local Brethren at the annual New Year’s reunion in Feilding yesterday. The visitors were hospitably entertained at meals in the Oddfellows’ Hall.
