SAYS “NO”*TO SUITOR. PARIS, May 16. A romantic story is being associated with the coming departure ol M. Gerbault—some time ago he undertook a voyage in the yawl Fireerest to the South Seas—for permanent residence in the Pacific. Friends state that it is becauso Mdlle. Suzanne Lenglen has given him the answer for which ho lias waited five years—a decisive “No.” Mdlle. Lenglen was becoming famous when rumour linked their names in an engagement. Mdlle. Lenglen asked 101° five years to consider. M. Gerbault set out on tlie Firecrest for a voluntary exile in the South Seas, a voyage which is now famous. To-day Mdlle Suzanne appears completely absorbed in her business as a designer of sports garments. M. Gerbault’s determination to leave civilisation is accepted as an admission of Mdlle Lenglen’s refusal. M. Gerbault returned to Franco in July of last year after a cruise around tho world in tho 10-toil cutter Fireerest. On his roturn from that lonely voyage tho Petit Parisian dcclarod that he liad been completely conquered by the beauty of the Pacific islands, and that it was his intention to have a new boat built, ono smaller than tho Fireerest, and to roturn and spend tho rest of his days cruising in the Pacific
