BULLS.

CROQUET. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, April 10. There was a largo attendance of ladies at the competition afternoon held on tho Bulls Croquet Club’s greens on Wednesday, including representatives of tho Marton, Hunterviilo and Oroua Clubs. Apologies for absence wero rocoived from Manawatu and Feilding. Tho competitions caused great amusement, and although tho weather was overcast, a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Tho winners wero as follow: French croquet, Mrs Aitken (Oroua) ; tunnels, Mrs -H. Stevens (Bulls); golf, Mrs J. Larmcr (Bulls). At tho conclusion of play tho prizes wero presented by tho president, Mrs Stevens, who eongratulated the winners, and thanked all for attending tho afternoon. Mcsdames Oakley (Oroua) and Aitken (Oroua) responded, thanking tho Bulls Club for their very pleasant entertainment. BOWLING. Tho Marton Bowling Club sent 14 players to Bulls on Wednesday afternoon, and a friendly match was played betwocn pairs, threes and full rinks, victory resting with the visitors by 163 points to 136. The green played well, but was slow after tho overnight rain. Twenty-five heads were played, and at tho end of tho _ 12th the teams wero changed, skips becoming leads, and leads skips, which gavo tho contest a sporting taste, and added to tho fun. Detailed scores wero as follow, Bulls players being mentioned first:—Ransom, Archer (skip) 23 lost to Raynor, Shine (skip) 24; Bailey, Sharp, Holland _ (skip) 14 lost to Lowo, Bond, Duncan (skip) 45; Brookic, Ingram (skip) 15 lost to Miles, Gorrie (skip) 19; Aldcrwick, Walker, Drew (skip) 27 defeated Morrison, Connell, Hunter (skip) 16; Trickor, Perrett, Caldow (skip) 22 lost to Smart, Atkinson, Duck (skip) 36; Ellory, Wilson, Stevens (skip) 35 defeated Princo, Simpson, Purnell (skip) 23. Tho ladies of the Croquet Club provided afternoon tea.
