THE WATER SUPPLY.

TIRITEA DAM FILLING. The Mayor (Mr A. J. Graham) informed a “Standard” reporter this morning that the level of tlie water at the Tiritea dam was now only three inches from the lip. There Was a considerable volume of water'flowing into the darn from upstream, and it was anticipated that by this evening the dam would be full and overflowing. Although notice has been 1 served to consumers connecting 1 with 1 the pipeline, giving them seven days’ notice of the council’s intention to cut off the supply should this drastic action be considered expedient, the improvement in conditions at Tiritea now makes it unnecessary to carry out this intention. “Conditions will very soon be back to normal,” added the Mayor. The restrictions regarding the use of hoses have not yet been lifted.
