NEW MINISTER WELCOMED.
REV. L. WHITEHEAD ORDAINED. Despite the inclement weather, there was a large congregation at St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Terrace End, last evening, when the ordination of‘Rev. L. G. JB. Whitehead took place. Rev. G. T. Brown, of St. Andrew’s Clrurch, presided. • Publio worship was conducted by Rev. Raeburn McDonald, of Feilding, w’ho preached An inspiring sermon on “A New Thought of God.” At the conclusion of the service, Mr Brown put the prescribed questions to Mr Whitehead and, these being satisfactorily answered, . the Presbytery solemnly ordained Mr Whitehead in prayer and inducted him to. the charge, •*'. i Rev. R. H. Catherwood, Turakina, then spoke words of sound counsel .and wisdom both to the newly-ordained minister and the congregation. A social function followed, at which addresses of welcome were given- Jy the Rev. R. McDonald on behalf of the Wanganui Presbytery and Feilding; Rev. C. S. Matthews,- on behalf of the Council of Christian Congregations, and Rev. R. H. Catherwood. Mr Allen spoke of the services, the Rev. G. T. Brown had rendered the church during the vacancy and handed him a small token in appreciation. An anthem was rendered by the choir and songs were contributed by Miss Sorensen, Messrs Murray and Henderson, and recitations by Mrs Davidson and Miss Allen.
