VICE REGAL TOUR.
WELCOME AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 8. The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, accompanied by Lady Bledisloe, paid his first official visit to Christchurch to-day. Their Excellencies spent an hour in a drive round tho city. There was a civic welcome at noon, at which the Mayor presented the Governor-General with an illuminated address. Later Their Excellencies took luncheon with the Mayor and were his guests during an inspection of tho gardens and in a drive on the Cashmere Hills. This evening Lord and Lady Bleclisloo attended a meeting promoted by the Obstetrical Society in support ot the Mothers’ Chair appeal and both spoke in commendation of the objects of the appeal.
