SECOND ROTORUA TOURNAMENT. PROGRESS OFTOCAL RINKS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) ROTORUA, Feb. 24. The second Rotorua bowling tournament opened this morning in light rain, which shortly afterwards gave way to sunshine. Fraser (Palmerston North) in section D, met Higgenbotham (of Henderson). The latter led for 16 heads, when Fraser equalised the scores, 11 all. On tho 19th Palmerston North led by 13 shots to 12, but Fraser got a five on the next head and won a good game by five points, Henderson’s team scoring one on the last end. Fraser had another stern game with Hale (Island Bay) in the second round. At the 15th head he led by 13 points to 12, but in the 19th was three down. He recovered these on the 20th and

gained two on the final head, to win by 18—16.

In the last game, against Wcnk (Grey Lynn) a team skipped by Mclvor (Palmerston North), though not playing very good bowls, led till the 17th head, when Mclvor scored seven. Fraser equalised the scores, 18—all, on the 19th head, but Grey Lynn got two each on the 20th and 21st heads and won by 22 points to 18. Wardrop, of Woodville, in section B, met Livingstom (Matamntn) and suffered defent by 26 points to 16. The winners led all the way and are a good team. In the second round AVardrop had a bye, and in the third round AVardrop s team played Bean (Mt. Albert). It was a keen game, in which the scores were 17 each side on the 20th head. AVoodville got tho winning points on the last head and took the game by 20 points to 17. TAKARO CUP. The Northern Bowling Club will be required to meet a challenge lor toe Takaro Cup from Terrace End tomorrow. The challenging rink will be Hine, Dixon, Holland and AYort (skip). PLAYERS FROM AVELLINGTON. The executive of the Manawatu Bowling Centre met to-day to arrange for the visit of the AVellington Centre tomorrow. Twelve rinks are expected and games will be played as follow': Palmerston North green.—Feilding, Northern, Manawatu and Terrace End rinks and two Palmerston North rinks. Terrace End green.—Palmerston North Northern, Manawatu and Oroua rinks and two Terrace End rinks. Play will begin at 2 p.m. and local bowlers are requested to meet the Daylight Limited express with cars.
