From Our Own Correspondent). GLEN OROUA, Feb. 22 The annual swimming sports of the Lien Oroua School were held in the school baths yesterday afternoon. Though the weather was threatening until mid-day, the sun broke through in the afternoon, and there was a large number of parents and others present. The teachers, Mr Parlane and Miss Phillips, were responsible for the handicapping which resulted in very close finishes in practically eveiy e ' r ihe judges wore Messrs. W. Wallace, W. A. and H. A. Prebble, and the starter, Mr S G. Parlane. The events and the results are as follow . After the Fporta, all present were supplied with afternoon tea, members of the committee, their wives ■ and other ladies and gentlemen being kept busy attending to the'Svapts of children -and adults, the head teacher-desires to acknowledge with thanks donations .from the following: Miss M Osborne, Mr W. Wallace, Mr W. A. Boswell and Mr J. H. Simmons. Thanks are also due to members of the committee, Messrs W. A. Boswell, W. Wallace, P. [farland and J. Howl for their work; to the judges, and to the ladies who were kept so busy with the afternoon tea arrangemerft's and the fina-l cleaning-up. Miss Osborne’a prizes for the most progress in swimming were awarded to Jeanette Scott, and Iris Jeffs.
