SEVERE FROST.
DAMAGE TO FRUIT CROPS IN CALIFORNIA. (Australian Press Association.) SAN FRANCISCO, April 9. . As a result of a frost, damage estimated at nearly 50,000,000 dollars was suffered by tree fruits, nuts and grapes AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. POSSIBLY FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS. (Australian Press Association.) Received April 11, 11.30 a.m. NEW YORK, April 10. ’ The damage to fruits by the frost was estimated at as high as fifty million dollars to-day by Mr E. E. Kaufman, chief of the Federal State crop reporting service. He said that he ' expected that the yield of fruit ana ’ nuts, which brought a hundred million dollars to the producers last year, 1 would be cut in half by the severe weather. . The frost damage to the crops in the Yuba, Sutter and Butte counties alone aggregates ten million dollars.
