FOOTBALL CLUB. The Woodville Football Club's committee held its first meeting of the year on Tuesday evening, Mr R. Bly presiding. The Manawatu Rugby Football Council advised that the cup competitions had been fixed to start on April 27th> also asking for nominations of the Woodville teams for the competitions. The council further mentioned the matter of forming a B grade senior team. It was stated by a member that the feeling of senior players was that they should keep to senior grade, and not enter as a B grade. The meeting decided to enter one Benior, one third, and a fourth grade team in the competitions. It was decided to play a third grade match against Pahiatua at Woodville on April 17, and a senior game was arranged against Dannevirke Old Boys to be played at Dannevirke on Saturday. The arrangement of a fourth grade match with the Dannevirke High School was left in the secretary’s hands. The following players were selected to play against Dannevirke , Old Bovs:—Forwards, J. Charles, P. Eades, J. Burley, P. Spackman, R. Upston, R. McKenzie, A. Ross, F. Halpin, Blatchford. Backs, L. Hayes, T. Scott, R. Vile, J. Redwood, Leahy, J. Couller, H. Grinlinton, J. Upston, A. Burlace. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. Mrs Forbes presided over a meeting of the Woodville Women’s Institute on Wednesday, some 30 members being present. Mr and Mrs AntclifF, of Dannevirke, gave a very interesting address on the Angora rabbit • industry, which was greatly appreciated. It was decided to hold a public afternoon in aid of the Blind Institute on May 1, in the Foresters’ Hall. FORESTERS’ COURT. The fortnightly meeting of the Foresters’ Court was held, in the Foresters’ Hall on Tuesday evening, there being a good attendance, presided over by C.R. Sister Pilcher. The Woodwards reported two members on the sick list. After, the correspondence Lad been dealt? with, C.R. Sister PilcNir presented I.P.C.R. Sister Barkwith with a P.C.R. neck ribbon and a framed P.C.R. certificate. P.C.R. Sister Barkwith, in acknowledging the presentation, expressed her thanks for the assistance given her during her term as C.R. After the meeting supper was partaken of and a pleasant hour spent at cards. BOYS’ BAND. It is stated that Mr Thompson, late conductor of the Palmerston North Garrison Band, is an applicant for the position of conductor of the Boyii’ Band, to replace Mr Hodgkins who, with Mrs Hodgkins and iheir two daughters will be leaving Woodville on their return to Canada on April 2&. The services of Mr Hodgkins as conductor and coach to the boys will be greatly missed, as will the help of the Misses Hodgkins, the two popular lady cornet soloists of the band. On Monday evening the Woodville Salvation Army Band presented an entertainment in Pahiatua in aid of the funds for the local corps. There was an excellent attendance and a fine programme was rendered. The final competition of the season in connection ■ with the Woodville Anglers’ Club is to take place at the coming week-end. Substantial prizes are being given for the best three bags aecured. *- .<

Adjutant and Mrs Pratt left Wood▼ille on Tuesday to attend the Salvation Army Congress in Wellington.
