FEILDING NEWS
PLUNKET SOCIETY. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, April 11. The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society was held on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs A. Sugden presiding. Miss Armstrong reported on the work for March as follows: —Number of new cases 13, number of visits 4, homes visited 129, adult visits to rooms 135, infants 114, older children 30, total 279. Out stations—New cases 2, visitors to rooms 24, infants 14, odder children 6, total 44; advice given by telephone 40, letters written 3. Donations were received from the following:—Mesdames Mason ss, A. Belk ss, H. Stewart £l, anonymous 10s, Mr Alfred Kidd £l. POPULAR TEACHER RETIRING. Mr W. H. McLean, first assistant at the Manchester Street School, has notified the committee that he intends retiring from the teaching profession at the end of the month. Mr McLean has been on the staff of the school for over 30 years, the period only being broken by the four and alalf years Mr McLean spent on active service. He is intensely popular with the scholars, and the i(pst of old pupils who nave passed through his class will join with the present pupils and parents in wishing him pvery happiness in his retirement.
