Henri Bollon, formerly a hairdresser in Marseilles, has arrived at Havre after being eleven years on Devil’s Island. Bellon had been serving a life sentence for allegedly betraying his country—a charge which has been proved to be wrong. , Bellon had been convicted on the evidence of a man who, during 1926, appeared as a witness in . a murder charge, but the evidence was found to be so outrageous that the Judge ordered him from the court. Bellon’s case was later reopened, and he was found to be entirely innocent. The authorities released him and gave him £4O compensation. This was just sufficient to pay his fare home.
