COLLISION AT SEA
NORWEGIAN STEAMER FOUNDERS CREW RESCUED. VALUABLE WHEAT CARGO CARRIED. (United Press Associatibn —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received March 30, 10.5 a.m. MELBOURNE, March 30. The Norwegian steamer Selje, of 6600 tons, foundered about 120 miles west of the Port Philip Heads last night after a collision with the Kaituna. The latter vessel rescued the crew of the Selje. The Kaituna’s bows were damaged and she sent a wireless message for assistance to enable her to reach port. The Selje had a cargo of wheat valued at £75,000. A wireless message received in Melbourne from the Selje indicated that the vessel was in difficulties. The words “sinking fast” were faintly heard. The message was obviously incomplete.
