EUROPA FIRE.
BLAZE UNDER CONTROL. (Australian Press Association.—United Service.) BERLIN, March 26. The fire on the Europa, the mammoth Norddeutsclier Lloyd liner, is under control. The engineers report that the stern, lower deck, and engineroom are not seriously damaged, and can be salvaged. It is supposed that a lighted cigarette end dropped into inflammable material used by painters caused the fire. DISASTER FOR INSURANCE MARKET. (Australian Press Association.) ■' LONDON, March 25. The fire on the Europa is likely to prove the worst disaster the marine insurance market has known for years. Although the insurance was originally placed in Germany, the risk was so extensively re-insured in London that it is probable the greater portion will be held here. Policies are behoved to have been taken out on an insured value of £3,000,000 for a period of 21 months. i
