FOXTON NOTES.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, March 27. Tho monthly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was presided by Mr D. Christie (vice-president). It was decided to place on record tho chamber’s appreciation of tho activities of Messrs J. Linklater, M. E. Perrcau, R. Rangiheuca and F. C. Raikes in an endeavour to keep tho port open by obtaining anothor boat for-tho Fox ton service. Mr D. Christie submitted copies of two letters writton to South Island papers condemning the practico of New Zealanders in purchasing American goods in preference to tho British article, but after a discussion tho matter lapsed without any resolution being passed. The chairman mentioned _ that since the Kennedy had ceased running to Foxton it was costing ono storekeeper over £5 per week in extra freight.
