SNYDER-GRAY MURDER.
NEW YORK, Jan. 6. The Governor of New York (Al. Smith) declined to interfero with tho electrocution of Judd Gray and Ruth Snyder who killed the latter s liusband in cold blood, last March. Losing hope of a reprieve, the woman signed a will, leaving to her young daughter, her property, and the £20,000 insurance on the husband sho murdered. . „ , , Counsel urged in the final lieaiing before the Governor that the woman came within the mental twilight zone that separates legal insanity from tho border line of mental irresponsibility. Al. Smith bluntly replied: “I’m not concerned about all this neuiosis and psvehosis you’re talking about. “But St. Paul said that the letter of the law ki 1 loth while the spirit giveth life,” interrupted counsel. “Y°s But the Legislature of New York has given me later instructions than I get from St. Paul,” insisted Smith.
A later message stated that both prisoners were electrocuted.
