HOW TO GET A HOLIDAY.
MAGISTRATE DECIDES TO RETIRE. OPOTIKI, Jan. 20. Mr W. G. K. Kenrick, S.M., who is retiring in February, was farewelled to-day by members of the Bar and Justices of the peace. Mr A. L. Arrowsmith, on behalf of the Bar and Mr 11. R. Hogg, on behalf of the justices, wero the speakers. In the course of his reply Mr Kenrick said he had had only one holiday in 2-1 years, and ho was now entitled to another, and the only way to get it was by retiring from the Bench altogether. At the end of the Court proceedings Mr Kenrick was presented with a case of pipes.
