PROPOSED ALTERATION IN LAW. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. July 25. The Juries Amendment Bill wasintroduced in the Legislative Council to-day by Hon.' J. MacGregor and read the first time. It proposes that a verdict by a fivesixths majority may be accepted in criminal cases and that a trial may be continued notwithstanding that the jury may be reduced in number.
