GIRL ASSAULTED.
YOUNG MAN SENT TO GAOL. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 24. At. the Police Courfi William Wheeler Kennedy, aged 22, pleaded guilty to a charge of having assaulted a girl. A constable stated that at 7.35 on the evening of June 14 he saw accused approach complainant in the street, grasp her by the throat aud Gr ew her on the pavement. He arrested Kennedy, who said, “It’s all right, I am subject to fits and feel like assaulting somebody, so I’ll give it a fly now.” Kennedy in evidence said he mistook complainant for another girl. He put his arm around her, but did not grasp her by the throat or knock her down.
Air Poynton, S.M., imposed a sentence of two months’ imprisonment.
