MEETING OF BOROUGH COUNCIL '(From Our Own Correspondent.] The ordinary meeting of the Shannon Borough Council was hold on Tuesday evening. Present: His Worship tho Mayor (Me K. Butt), Crs. Curran, Downes," Thwaites, Spencer, Richardson and Watkins.' CORRESPONDENCE. From Mr E. Gingell, forwarding 10s towards the cemetery funds. —Received with thanks. From Mr J. Ilallam, asking for permission to lay a drainpipe undor tho footpath to carry the water from his property. —Granted. From tho Shannon Football Club, asking for the grass on tho Domain to bo cut and a temporary fence erected between tho cyclo track and playing field.—lt was resolved to cut the grass, but not to erect tho fence. From tho Audit Department, forwarding the two years’ balance-sheets ended'March 51, 1926, duly certified to as correct, and with no ‘'tags.”—Tho balance-sheets were adopted and the town clerk complimented on his work. GENERAL. Mr L. Richardson wrote stating that the outlet of a drain which goes through his property was blocked. A considerable amount of water came down the drain from tho Blind creek and >vlicn it rained heavily a chain of water was thrown over his property. The drain Had run through his property for five years or 'more and had its outlet in a drain which was actually on tho council’s boundary.—lt was resolved that Crs. Spencer and Curran meet all parties concerned and endeavour to arrange a satisfactory settlement of the matter. Tho matter of finally deciding tho rubbish tip site was left to the Mayor to confer with tho health oilicer. , The road committee was instructed to put hand-rails on tho bridges over Stansdl’s drain. It w r as brought under the council’s notico that flowers wore being picked from the reserve and it was resolved to prosecute anyone caught doing so. Cr. Thwaites moved that tho matter of sewerago for the borough bo gone into by tho sanitary committee, together with the mover and that a report bo brought down for next meeting.—Carried. Tho town clerk reported that lie had obtained tho necessary option for six months over tho proposed quarry site.
