SPORTS MEETING
In connection with the Easter camp, the young women of the Baptist Bible Class Union conducted a sports meeting at the Boys’ High School ground on Saturday. While the weather remained fine the events were disposed of in an expeditious manner, under the direction of a committee headed by Miss Holbrook, but owing to rain falling at intervals later in tho afternoon tho final races had to be decided at tho Showground under cover. Nevertheless, the meeting proved a decided success. Tho following aro the results: JUNIOR EVENTS. 50 yards race: D. Pengelly (Foilding) 1, M. Glyfield (Petone) 2. Hopping race: P. Horn (V anganui) 1, V. Pengelly (Foilding) 2. Cup-of-water race: A. Gaze (Ingestro street, Wanganui) 1, P. Horn (Wanganui) 2. Three-legged race: A. Campbell and J. Bade (Berhampore) 1, E. Berson, P. Bolton (Ingestre street, Wanganui) 2. 100 yards race: N. Healey (Wellington) n l, H. Thompson (Lyall Bay) 2. Crocodile race: Wellington 1. Relay race: Wellington 1, New Plymouth 2 Thread-the-needle: N. Healey (Wellington) 1, D. Pengelly (Folding) 2. ' SENIOR RESULTS. 50 yards race: V. Campbell (Lyall Bay) 1, M. Hogarth (New Plymouth) 2. Hopping race: V. Campbell (Lyall Bay) 1, M. Mexted (Lyall Bay) 2. Cup-of-water race: V. Campbell (Lyall Bay) 1, M. Samson (Wellington) 2. Three-legged race : M. Samson and K. Samson (Wellington) 1. 100 yards race: M. . Hogarth (Now Plymouth) .1, V. Campbell (Lyall Bav) 2. Crocodile race: Wellington Al, Wellington B 2. Relay race: Lyall Bay 1, Wellington A 2. CUPS AVON. Petone Cup for senior championship was won by Miss Vera Campbell (Lyall Bay) 19 points, the runner-up being Miss Margaret Hogarth (New Plymouth (8 points). The Granville Cup for the junior championship was won by Miss Nellie Healey (Vivian street class AVelton) 14 points, the runner-up being Miss Doris Pengelly (Feildmg) 11 points. The Shearer Shield (presented to the class with the greatest aggregate) was won by Lyall Bay 28 points, Vivian street (AVellington) being second with 18 points. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. During the evening a very enjoy-, able social was hold. Items were rendered by various campers —many being original in character. a suitable juncture Miss F. E. Kershaw, of AVellington, presented the various prizes and trophies won during tho afternoon. Games were indulged in, and a pleasant evening terminated with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
