WEST AFRICA.
INVESTIGATION TO BE MADE. Received January 20, 11.20 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 20. Captain Ormby Gore, accompanied by Mr lthys, M.P., and two Colonial Office officials, has left London en route for West Africa, where ho will undertake a comprehensive investigation of West Coast colonies and protectorates, especially directing attention to transport development, health, sanitation education, and agriculture, particularly palm oil, in connection with which ho will endeavour to reconcile tho native land policy with the necessity for meeting the competition from Congo and Sumatra. —A. and N.Z. cable.
