TOKOMARU

On Wednesday last, Air and Airs S. Liggins and family motored through to their new home in Paeroa.

TANGIMOANA

(From Our Own Correspondent.) • visitors from a 3 far as Marton in the north, Levin the south, and Dannovirke in the east, have found, their way t° f Tangimoana for the Christmas holidays. . This fast- growing seaside resort is gaanmg in popularity each season and thero aro always numerous inquiries for sections, but the demands aro not being met, as the Government sections are all taken and the only available ones belong to private people who are leaving or having left the surrounding districts for here. It is to bo hoped that the Government will soon see I their way to open up more sections for ; selection.

Even though tho majority of pcoplo prefer to spend Christmas Day at home with a short motor car drive in tho afternoon, there was a good attendance of visitors at tho beach oh December 25th, and everyone looked happy and seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely. But Boxing Du.y~ surpassed any preceding holiday for attendance, and showed how popular this place is becoming, it boing estimated that there were botween 500 and 600 cars and buses parked hero .and between two and three thousand people present. During the day the crowd enjoyed boating, cricket, tennis and numerous other games, somo going on to tho main beach and others preferring the grass flat on tho Domain to tho sand on tho beach. The Domain being closo to the river bank, scores took the opportunity of a swim in tho river.

At 1 p.m. sports were held by the Tangimoana Sports Club on tho Recreation Rosorve and. were considered a great success, being well patronised by the holiday crowd and residents who had a most enjoyable itime. The successful competitors were well satisfied with their prizes. Tho children were well catored for with lollio scrambles and races for even the tiny tots under four who were not too frightened and shy to run. The meeting ended up with a mnrried men’s race which produced a number of competitors. Tangimoana has now a post office' and. a daily mail service and, as soon, as tile holidays are over, several residents propose having a party telephone lino installed. It is also hoped to liavo tho electric light down to the township before very long as tho lino where tho poles are to bo ereetd has been surveyed. There are also a baker and a butcher who deliver goods to tho residents and a new sight for tho beach is to sco a milkman on his rounds morning and night. It has been decided, to call a meeting of the Tangimoana Improvement Society on January Ist in tho afternoon to elect a committee to carry on for the new year and discuss plans for the beautifying of tho Domain, Recreation Ground and general.
