CANTERBURY MEETING. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 7. The Canterbury Jockey Club’s spring meeting opened in dull, cold weather. The track is good and there is a large attendance. Results:— SPRING HURDLES, of 400 sovs.; two miles. Sir Fanciful, 10.10 1 En Route, 10.1 2 Bonecto, 9.0 0 Scratched: Little River and Gamecock. Won by a head. Time 3.43. RACES AT ELLERSLIE. AUCKLAND, Nov. 7. The Auckland Racing Club’s spring meeting at Ellerslie opened in unsettled weather. There was a heavy hailstorm about 10.30 this morning, but the sun is now shining. There is a large attendance. The course is somewhat heavy. Results: — GORDON HANDICAP, of 500 sovs.: one mile. Bay Dighton, 8.4 1 Wyoming, 7.11 2 Cocoanut, 7.11 3 Scratched: Adi Vunivola, Maveelish. Royal Mint, Romance, Vexatious and Nippy. Won by half a length, the same distance between second and third. Time 1.41 2-5. A USTRALIAN NOTES. MELBOURNE. Nov. 0. Manfred and Whittier wore slightly injured while running in the Linlithgow Stakes yesterday. The Governor’s horse, Night Patrol, will be offered at auction on Tuesday. —Press Association. Royal Rloocl was scratched at 1.5 p.m. yesterday for the Shorts’ Handicap at the Auckland meeting, stated an Auckland telegram.
