PHARAOH’S MUMMY.

DISCOVERY IN EGYPT. ANOTHER. RESTING PLACE TO BE FOUND. CAIRO, Nov. 5. A communique states that the actual sarcophagus of King Tutankhamen lias at last been revealed. A season’s work at the tomb has shown a further sarcophagus, covered by painted designs on vari-coloured glass, with ■ a layer of gold on the marble ground underneath. This was another cofflini, shape d/like a human body, which is heavily gilded, flowers being tied to the head bandage and also resting on the breast. Over the gilded head is a painted face representing the young Pharaoh. Finally, the actual coffin of Tutankhamen was exposed. It is of gold ornamentation and beautiful workmanship, though most of the detail is concealed by a black, glutinous mess, the result of libations poured out at the funeral services. The mummy will be taken out, and then wrapped up until the Egyptian Government decides on its last resting place.—A. and N.Z. cable.
