THE FLAXMILLING INDUSTRY.

It is a strange thing that with all tho improvements that have been inode in flaxmilling tho principle of tho stripper to-day is the same as was introduced in 1861. However, these principles as applied to make a modern stripper arc a matter which cullb for careful scientific design and tho very host of engineering Workmanship. The latest great advance in design is in tho application of ball liearings and nickel chrome steel spindles properly heat treated and accurately ground to gauges. Those ball bearing machines arc the products of Messrs Taylor and Pointon, llangitikei street, Palmorston North, who are specialists in flax-dressing machinery and equipment of all kinds. They are perhaps the only firm in tho country who regularly build and supply strippers completely equipped and ready for work. The newly built brick garage of the General Motor Exchange opposite tho Manawatu Club in Church street is the headquarters for both tho cars ns well as for the Thornycroft lorries and Federal Knight trucks. This garage being so centrally situated is very convenient for theatre-goers and visitors generally, and car owners can feel quite easy about leaving their vehicle ns tho premises are thoroughly fireproof. The garage is well equipped for nil classes of repairs und the mechanical work is all done under tho personal supervision of Mr Hayward. There are always some good new models of the Willys, Overland, Federal, Knight and Thornycrofts to look over and invariably a good assortment of used ears as well.
