TERRIBLE WIND STORMS.
DEVASTATION IN AMERICA. NEAV YORK, Oct. 25. Devastating windstorms struck the Atlantic coast States, resulting in the death of at least 21 persons besides heavy damage to homes and shipping. _ln Alabama the tornado, sweeping in from the Texas coast, killed 16 and injured more than a score, and levelled dozens of houses. In AVoburn, Massachusets, 500 houses were damaged. In Baltimore 17 navy seaplanes assembled for manoeuvres in connection with the Schneider Cup race broke from their moorings. Seven of them were completely wrecked and others badly damaged.—A. and N.Z. cable. BLOWN FROM WINDOW. REMARKABLE AFTERMATH. Received October 27, 9.5 a.m NEAV YORK, Oct. 26. In connection with the tornado, a remarkable case is reported. Mrs, Lucille Grey was hanging out clothes from a fifth-storey apartment window when a gust of wind blew her out. An ambulance rushed the body to a hospital in time for the surgeons to perform the Caesarean operation and deliver the child alive.—Sydney Sun cable.
