FATAL BRAWL
YOUNG MAN KILLED. CONFLICT AVITH ITALIANS. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received October 27, 11.15 a.m. HOBART, Oct. 27. Following on an altercation with a number of Italians, AA’illiam Quinn, John Davis and a number of other young men visited the Italians’ homo at Linda and broke some windows. A melee followed in which Quinn was fatally stabbed and Davis seriously wounded, while several other Australians suffered minor injuries. One Italian has been arrested. The brawl was the outcome of racial feeling, which had been simmering for a long time, local inhabitants resenting the employment of Italians in the North Lyell mine.—Press Association.
