MEETING OF FACTORIES’ ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of tho Manawalu and West Coast Dairy Factories’ Association was hold this morning, the president, Mr A. Broadbelt, occupying the chair. There were also present: Messrs J. IV. Teale, 0. G. C. Dcrmer and J. Boyce. The Wairarapa Federated Dairy Companies’ Association wrote asking for a copy of the rules and regulations of the association.—Tho secretary reported that ho had complied with the request. The Bainesse Co-operative Dairy Company Wrote forwarding its resignation from i.lie association, this being accepted with regret'. The dairy division of the Department of Agriculture advised that, on receipt of the information regarding the regulations proposed at Home covering the use rf preservatives and neutralising agents in tho manufacture of imported butter, the High Commissioner had at once been commur,dented with by cable, with the result that the association might, rest assured that no effort would ho spared to prevent the introduction of any regulation likely to prejudice the interests of the Dominion’s butter industry. Joint action with Australia would be taken if necessary.—The communication was received.

In connection with tho resolution passed by the association in March, and circulated among dairy companies, to the effect that the Governm mt should bo requested to make an amendment to Iho Dairy Control Act whereby the present system of elee,ion to tho board would be replaced by ;he wa.rd system, 84 replies were received, every one favouring flip proposal. Hon W. Nosworthy also wrote on this matter stating that the proposal was receiving active consideration. No further action was taken on this matter.

It was decided to hold the annual meeting during show-time.
