ARMS AND EXPLOSIVES
. SECRET STORE FOUND. SOFIA, May 17. It is officially announced that the police discovered a large secret store of arms and explosives supposedly intended for an armed insurrection and the blowing up of bridges and railways. Considerable money was also found. Several arrests have been made.—Reuter.
ENCOUNTERS NEAR SOFIA. LONDON, May 17. Tho Daily Express’s Sofia correspondent states: “Two thousand troops are engaged in repressing the activities of armed hands operating, from political motives, east of Sofia. Sharp encounters occurred at several places, where many houses were found pillaged. Reinforcements ure guarding the main railway line and bridges in consequence of the discovery of a plot, to holdup tho Orient express.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
