LIQUOR SHIPS.

NUMBER MUCH REDUCED. 'NEW YORK, May 16. A dozen newspaper men have concluded a four-day cruise from Nantucket Light tto Atlantic City under coustguurd auspices. They report thut twelve liquor ships, manned by dejected crews, are left out of 80 odd ships.—Reuter. “RUM ROW”. WIPED OUT. NEW YORK, May 17. The newspapers claim that. “Rum Row” has been wiped out. They state that every rum ship was picketed by two swift petrol boats armed with one-pounders, and the supporting number of these are adequate. Navy destroyers’ pickets hang about within a hundred yards .of the bootleggers, who become so harried that their organisation is disintegrated. They have scattered in all directions, and in many instances they have auctioned their cargoes at a tithe of their value.—Sydney Sun cable.
