Tho locul football club suffered a further reverse in their match with Woodvillo last Saturday. They were unlucky to lose after being in a good winning position. Tho team’s tackling throughout was rather poor and this, together with lack of team work in the forward division, was responsible for tho dofeat. Several players show distinct individual ability, and a few'more matches should mako a vast improvement. Miss M. Pellow, of tho local school staff, is being transferred to Terrace End School. Tlie memorial service, a mark of respect to tho memory of tho late Premier, wa& conducted in the Linton Ilall on Thursday afternoon by Mr J. M. Murdoch. There was a large attendance of children and parents. After tho service it was decided to convoy to Mrs Massey and family an expression of the Linton residents’ deepest sympathy in their irreparable loss. Mr H. Hook is at presont undergoing treatment in the Palmerston North Hospital. Mr C. Sutherland, the secretary of the local football club, who underwent an operation for appendicitis on Wednesday night, is reported to be progressing favourably. Mr Jos. Batchelar, representing the Kairanga County Council, attended the funeral of the late Premier on Thursday.
