BUILDING SOCIETY.
Tho monthly meeting of the directors of the Star Bowkett Building Society was held last night, Air J. B. Gerrand presiding. Others present were: Messrs C. E. Dempsy. M. A. Eliott, W. Alundy, E. Needham, W. S. Woodroofe and S. J. Watson. A ballot in No. 5 group for a free of interest loan was held, Messrs Dempsy and Eliott acting as scrutineers. Air S. J. Watson was the holder of the lucky marble and is thus entitled to a loan of £SOO free of interest. Tenders for appropriations were accepted as follow: £.IOO at £l2 per cent, in No. 3 group (3 tenders received): £3OO at £l6 13s Id per cent., and £2OO at £ls per cent., total £SOO in No. 4 group; and £IOOO at £3O per cent, cash in No. 7 group (four tenders received ). Thirty-nine applications for. shares in No. C group were received and they were allotted under the deferred payment rules. It was resolved to observe the usual Christmas holidays and that preliminary steps be taken to open No. 8 group in January next.
