AMERICAN AIR SERVICE.
-MUCH ACTIVITY REPORTED. WASHINGTON, Nov. 26. “When the American licet visits Australia next year, the airship, Shenandoah will l)o sent to Honolulu for certain, and possibly to Australia,’’ says the official announcement. There is much activity in the United States air service. Airs Coolidge, wife of tlie President, christened the ZR 3, by the new name of Los Angeles. The same day tlie newspapers were full of Charlie Chaplin’s latest wedding, so that the Californian city got a wonderful front page advertising all over the continent. To-day, officials are planning two possible trips from Los Angeles, one to Panama and the other to London, both with the idea of marking the exploration of air routes for commercial dirigibles. The Secretary of the Navy (Air Wilbur) is still replying to criticisms of the sinking of the battleship Washington, an investment of £3,000,000. He claims that lessons of inestimable value to the country’s defence were obtained by various experiments before the ship finally succumbed under the bombardment of tho Texas’s 14-inch shells. “It was well worth 15,000,000 dollars,” declared Air Wilbur.
