COMBINED SCHOOLS.
SPORTS MEETING TO-DAY. the annual sports of the combined schools of the district were held on the Showgrounds to-day. The weather was dull and rain fell at intervals. 'the stand was crowded with children while there were a fair number of parents present. The morning was devoted to running oif the various heats, and the infahts’ races. The following were in charge of arrangements: Mr W. A. Swinbourn (president); Mr 11. E. Gabitcs (director); Messrs Campbell, Trevena, Gabites, 11. Hamilton, and ilayden (executive); F. Aisher, C. Burgess (starters); Ue Berry, Thompson, Overton, Swinbourn and G. K. Hamilton (judges); Campbell, Leot, Morine (recorders); A. J. Troveria (marshal), and N. Martin (secretary). Following were the results of the infants’ races: GIRLS’ EVENTS. 50 yards ( 7 years) : 31. Smith (Tiritea) 1; 31. Edwards (College street) 2; J. Jen-1 kins (Terrace End) 3. Kangaroo race (7 .years): J, Jenkins (Terrace End) 1; 31. Kay (Terrace Dud) 2; II- Fill (Tiritea) 3. Skipping race (7 years): Jenkins (Terrace End) 1; 31. Smith (Tiritea) 2; O’Reilly (Convent) 3. Consolation (7 years): 11. Fitt (Tiritea) 1; Martin (College street) 2; E. McQueen (Central) 3. BOYS’ RACES. Wheelbarrow race (7 years) : D. Prentice, and 11. Lang (Terrace End) 1; R. Jones and L. Cockburu (College street) 2. 50 yards (7 years): G. Harvey (Central) 1; (.’. Burrows (Central) 2; F. Green (College street) 3. Kangaroo race (7 years): N. O’Kane (Convent) 1; R. Martin (Terrace End) 2; 11. Woolsparrow (Tiritea) 3. Consolation (7 years): R. Towlcr (Terrace End) 1; 1. Oliiver (ilokowhitu) 2.
