Referring to the death of Mr Opie, the annual report of the director of the Technical School, Mr G. G. Hancox, M.A. stated:—“On 7th February the’ late director resigned his position owing to ill-health, and on 17th.'March passed away. The late Mr Opie had given his best to the school for 16 years and his loss was deplored by all sections of the community. To show the esteem and affection in which iie was held, the Board of Governors on December 2 unveiled a tablet to his memory in the hall of the school, the tablet bearing the appropriate inscription: ‘Zealous and faithful in all bis work.’ Sincere regret, too, has to be expressed for the passing away of Miss Jocelyn Hollier, who for two years had most capably and . conscientiously acted as registrar and part-time teacher.”
