WOODVILLE v. TERRACE END. A team from Woodville visited Palmerston North on Saturday and played Terrace End on the latter’s courts. After several events in each section had been contested, rain unfortunately fell, compelling 1 the abandonment of further play. In tho games played, Terraco End proved the winners by a fair margin. Following are the restate, Woodvillo players being mentioned first: Ladies’ singles.—Miss Eaton lost to Miss D. Wallace 6—7; Miss Ashcroft lost to Miss I. Wallace I—7. Men’s singles.—J. Bolton beat C. A. Anderson 9—6; B. Rhodes lost to B. Uumberworth 4 —9. Ladies’ doublos. —Misses Eaton and Islip beat Misses D. Wallace and V. Pitt 7—6; Mrs Wardrop and Miss Teesdale lost to Miss E. Green and Mrs Gardner 3—7. Combined doubles.—Rhodes and Mrs Wardrop lost to B. Cumberworth and JVI. Jamieson 2 —7. Terrace End thus won by 6 sets to 2, and 49 games to 32. PALITIERSTON NORTH CLUB. At the Sydney Stadium, Harry Young defeated Frank Locks in the ninth round, Locke skying the towel owing to an injury to a thumb. The contest was desperately fought. Heavy hitting was indulged in by both men, but Locke was outclassed. At Melbourne. Ernie Rice defeated Dave Moss in the second round.
